    Posted: 07 Sep 2019 at 2:36pm
It seems like the weighted score for the player with the fastest time was 500 during the first 5 days of this month(Sept.'19). But it seems that score weighted score for the player with the fastest time for 6th Sept. has been calculated as being around 1000.
Similarly, my monthly weighted score for 6th was over 500, whereas usually it is around 250.
Is this a discrepancy or is there a logic beyond the calculation? Just curious.

Hi Dan,

The weighted scoring is a methodology adopted to reward the consistency of a player too.

How this works is is mentioned below.

Upto 5 games played in a month - 50% of cumulative score.
6 - 10 games in a month - 60% of cumulative score.
11 - 15 games in a month - 70% of cumulative score.
16 - 20 games in a month - 80% of cumulative score.
21 - 25 games in a month - 90% of cumulative score.
26 games or more - 100% of cumulative score.

So till 5th of every month, every players weighted score will be 50% of their cumulative score, but after 6th, if someone has played on all 6 days their weighted score jumps to 60% while someone who has missed a day will have 50% as weighted score.

Hope this explains. :)

Hi Rishi,

The methodology is a good one. I waited to see it in effect.

So after much consideration I would like to suggest a small change. I feel that this method doesn't address the point that some days some players do not finish a puzzle. So with the same set of rules, I suggest that instead of "play" we take it as "finish/solved correctly", it would be better. You may consider this for possible change.

Hi Dan,

We use the "Games Played" as against "Games Completed" because if a player leaves a puzzle unfinished, then they get a score of 0 for that day. 0 in fact is a number so we cannot ignore the fact if someone scores 0 and also the fact that the player did attempt a puzzle, which in turn adds to the point of rewarding regularity of a player. Hope this answers your question.

Rishi
